Do I need to file a "Sate Tax Return" if I live in Florida

Do I need to file a "Sate Tax Return" if I live in Florida?
I filed my federal tax return online. It was free. But the site says they dont support "state tax returns" and there is a $10 to do so. But im not sure if I have to file a state tax if I live in florida. I read somewhere Florida residents are exempt. Please help.

Correct Florida does not have a state income tax. Neither does Texas or Nevada. So save your $10 and dont worry about it.
2 :
I am also a Florida resident. Florida does not have any state income tax, so you don't have to file anything.

We actually don't get temperatures below the lower 70's or upper 60's until mid to late January. It does cool down considerably at night, might go into the mid 60's or so, but daytime is just as hot and sunny as ever. Last Christmas my family and I actually spent on the beach! The water was too cold to get into, but we laid out in our swimsuits and tanned.

I live in Florida and the bank just filed for foreclosure. How long do I have to vacate my home?
I received the papers 2 weeks ago that our bank is foreclosing on our home. I have not received any additional information, but we are not fighting the foreclosure. The truth is we can not afford our home due to my husband's job loss. How long do we have before we are evicted, and what is the notification process for this eviction? Can they just show up unannounced and throw us out? I am clueless. Thank you.

hibiscus are great for Florida i live in Tennessee and i have one that i keep out in the spring and summer and bring in when it starts gettin really cold...they are gorgeous and in Florida u shouldnt have to bring it in at all...they are like the hiwaiian flowers that u see everywhere...oh and they dont require a lot of work...just basically water at least twice a week and remember to ONLY water at night! or very early in the morning! they can get really large so remember if u put it in a pot put it in the largest one u can find but in Florida i would think u could plant it in the ground with some good soil thats got plenty of nutrients in it! good luck! hope i helped!
3 :
Florida has lots of micro-climates. What will thrive in Miami might not make it in Jacksonville. Some plants offered in garden centers are often not suitable for your area. Best way to find out what grows well is to drive around the neighborhood. See what is growing - talk to neighbors. See source for a zone map and information on growing lots of stuff.
4 :
You can grow colorful annuals that you can find at any garden center. Zinnias, verbenas, impatiens, geraniums, and mexican heather are some of my favorites.

Advice for if I should live in Florida or California

Advice for if I should live in Florida or California?
Im at 23 year old guy, living in Minnesota right now. Im planning on going to school for music business in either Los angeles or Orlando, Fl. I'm just wondering which would be better for a single guy like me to live....which state would be better for that music scene? Im gonna really focus on school but at the same time I want to meet people and have fun and party and whatnot. Any acvice and/or info. I could get to help my decision would be great!

WELL LUCKILY FOR U I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA.. AND THE TAXES ARE PRETTY HIGH.. RENT IS HIGH.. COST OF LIVING IS HIGH.. PAY AINT THAT GOOD.. THERES ALOT OF ''COMPETITION'' FOR MEDIOCRE JOBES.. ITS NOT ''CHEAP'' I WOULD SAY ''FLORIDA'' THEY DONT CHARGE ''TAXES'' FOR HOMES OVER.. THERE.. ITS BETTER THERE.. FOR U
2 :
Both places are rather expensive. And both places have a lively culture. But I'm going to have to go with California, and let me tell you why. The University of Southern California has an incredible music program. And it's not just classical performing, they have a program that's very current with the music industry today. Los Angeles (the city that the university is around) has a very strong music scene. Anything from West Coast rap to rock....it's there. The city has a very diverse population, something that will serve you well as you're looking for connections for your career as well as your personal life. Again, it's the college that's the strongest factor in the decision, and USC is a very, very good school. It's rather competitive, though...so I hope you have your act together! If expense is really an issue, maybe Florida really is best. I'm not exactly sure about the colleges there, however. With your determination, you should have no problem adjusting to whatever state you ultimately decide. I'm an aspiring musician and producer myself, and so I wish you all the best in your career!
3 :
California is under the economic crisis right now, so you're better off with Florida.

We live in florida & also have a house in Illinois. Can we register different cars in different states

We live in florida & also have a house in Illinois. Can we register different cars in different states?
have florida driver's license. But keep a car in Illinois.
Insurance & Registration - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You have to be a licensed driver in the state to register a vehicle. My parents live in Florida and Michigan. They chose to keep their cars registered, and their drivers licenses in Florida because the insurance rates are better.
2 :
Pick a state. Your best bet would be to pick the one you pay state income taxes in, and get your license and all your vehicles registered in that state so you can get the multi-car discount. Drive them where ever you'd like then.
3 :
You are supposed to register the cars in the state they are garaged. Same goes with insurance.
4 :
If you have a home and keep a car in Illinois, it should probably be registered in Illinois. I live in AZ, where we have a lot of seasonal residents, like Florida. Lost of people keep a vehicle here and drive it here, but register it in their home state, usually because it's cheaper there. If you're caught doing this here, it's up a $1000 fine because the state is being deprived of the taxes and fees on that vehicle. I think if you own a home, that establishes residency in that state. Of course, you can't have multiple drivers licenses. I'm sure this varies state-to-state, so you probable should check with the Illinois MVD.

If you wish to be that close to the beach there is no safe place. However, Tallahassee is a nice area. I always wanted to live in St. Augustine but hurricanes hit there. Even Orlando (1.5 hours away from the beach) closed down because of hurricane conditions. First time ever that Disney World closed was about 8 years ago. Good luck with your search.
4 :
There really isn't one specific area in Florida that is safe. When hurricanes hit they can go through the entire state. Example being Hurricane Katrina, it went through Florida and into Louisiana and destroyed their town. Wherever you live in Florida you will get hit with at least one hurricane or "tropical storm" you just have to take the proper precautions
5 :
Tampa Bay, Clear Water, or St. Pete, or Sarasota. these are all in the same area but the best.

Anywhere in Florida there is a thread of hurricanes. Royal Palm Beach, Wellington, West Palm Beach, is all west of the east coast and pretty safe. I've lived here for 7 yrs and the only thing I've gone through is a cpl of days w/o electricity because of the hurricanes, some branches on the floor and the street lights on the floor.
2 :
http://www.floridadisaster.org/bpr/EMTOOLS/Severe/tornadoes.htm
3 :
Because of the warmth from the Gulf Stream, the southern part of the state is more likely to experience hurricanes and damage from them Every state has it's share of weather/geological difficulties(hurricanes, earthquakes, blizzards, high winds, tornados etc.), It's only a matter of how much of a risk you are will to live with, in order to live there!

If have lived in Florida and moved to another state can i declare bankruptcy In the state I now live in

If have lived in Florida and moved to another state can i declare bankruptcy In the state I now live in ?
even though my debt is in florida and the law suit is in florida?
Personal Finance - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Most likely yes. Bankruptcy doesn't always clear judgments so you need to talk to an attorney about this, and you really need to consider what it will do to your credit for ten years.
2 :
Bankruptcy is Federal so it doesn't really matter. file in the fed district court for your current residence.
3 :
You need to file in the state in which you have lived for the greatest part of the last 180 days, which in your situation sounds like your new state. However, the exemptions you are allowed to take (which make a difference re. what you get to keep) may be those from the previous state in which you lived, depending on how long it has been since you moved. Ironically, this Federal law was enacted to prevent people from moving TO Florida (where the homestead exemption is very high) from other states with lower homestead exemptions prior to filing bankruptcy (bankruptcy attorneys know it as the "O.J. provision" because O.J. Simpson moved to Fla and bought a multimillion dollar mansion before filing bankruptcy, which mansion he was able to exempt from liquidation to pay creditors). In your situation, this provision of the 2005 bankruptcy reform act may work out in your favor.
4 :
I would review a website like http://diylegalinfo.com before making any descisions.

I would like your opinions, if you live in Florida, are you having trouble getting home owners insurance?
I am trying to sell my home in Florida and have interested buyers, but the cost of the insurance is probably going to make the deal fall through. I'm just curious if I am the only one, or is anyone else running into these problems.

nope no problem at all, but remember NO ONE writes a policy for homeowners during hurricane season....well not quite the season BUT whilst one has been reported................. Our insurance which is very good I think, is included within the mortgage, just wondering are you also in a flood zone area as well? as this would really be a no no for me to buy that house.....
2 :
It's always a problem during hurricane season. I know of many people that bought but couldn't close for this reason. Best to wait until December. If a company is writing policies, it will usually stop if there is a storm in their "box", which I think is within 250 miles.

I heard that some are having troubles because of the past few years of hurricanes & the damages they did. we had to drop state farm from our auto insurance because they were raising it even on the automobiles. good luck!

This answer is more of an opinion than an answer based on researchable facts. I have a relative living in the Orlando area who has been trying to sell her home since January 2006 and another who lives in the Ft Myers area and is not trying to sell. I also have several friends who live in the south Florida area. All are complaining about increases in homeowner's insurance premuims. Insurance companies have been hit with billions of dollars of claims in the last couple of years in the gulf and atlantic coast areas and have raised rates across the board. My relative in Orlando is fairly safe from catastrophic damage, but is still having trouble selling her house. My opinion is that this is part of the general nationwide real estate slowdown. As interest rates rise, more and more people are priced out of the market for "average" homes. There is no doubt that an increase in insurance rates, and the possibility of a catastrophic storm play into the equation, but I think that economic conditions are playing a much larger role than people think. Good luck with your sale.

What are some good towns/cities to live in Florida

What are some good towns/cities to live in Florida?
I want to move to Florida within the next 2-3 years and wanted to know what are some good areas. It would be myself, husband and teenager. My son wants to go to college down there but hasn't narrowed it down to which one yet. I was looking at the Lake Buena Vista area but would love any other suggestions.
Orlando - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
It depends entirely on what area of Florida you are talking about. North (Panhandle) North East Coast, Central, West Coast, East Coast (both technically in in the central part of the state but on the coasts as opposed to the middle of the state) or south Florida. If you are looking in the Lake Buena Vista area (which is Central Fl) may I suggest looking at places at bit outside of the "tourist area." LBV is the area of the Walt Disney Resort, and for most permanent residents, not worth the headache. There are areas close to that without the tourist Traffic. Dr. Phillips, Kississimme, Metro West, Meadow woods, are some but there are a ton more. Really a lot of neighborhoods in Orlando are great. There are some not so great ones, so be wary, and talk to people already living there.
2 :
Your looking in a nice centeral area. Orlando is has a lot of industries for jobs and is centerally located so if you wont be too far of a drive to you son if he goes to any of the florida schools you would be within a 4 hour drive. Its also short drives to some great beaches
3 :
It depends on what you like: Do you like small town feel or big city? Will you be bothered by too many tourists and traffic? Do you want to be close to shopping and theme parks? or would you rather be in a quite neighborhood? IMO: Altamonte Springs & Winter Park are very nice. LBV and Kissimmee are too touristy for me and Poinciana seems like it's in the middle of nowhere.
4 :
Dr. Phillips area in Orlando, Winter park, Some areas of Lake Mary.

You need to get visa advice to find out if your B2 visa becomes invalid due to a long absence from the USA. Best is to ask at the Embassy or Consulate that issued the visa. Good luck!
2 :
Well, you certainly cannot ask the visa officer if it is ok to LIVE in Fl. 6 months of the year... that word is a big NoNo. You may visit for up to 180 days a year on a B2 visa, but each time you enter the U.S. the immigration officer has the power to mark your I94 for the period of time HE thinks is appropriate...and you need to have reasons you want to stay for a certain period of tieme...and you wouldn{t want a very specific, predictable pattern wither. I am sure there are people who figure out how to do this...hope you hear from some...but, a pattern that looks like you are LIVING in the U.S. would be your undoing.

Their website should tell you which doctors take which plans, but none of them may take an out of state plan. I've had that problem moving from California to the east coast where I had to enroll in the local plan. My daughter went to a doctor in New York this summer, and they wouldn't accept her Blue Shield of California card. Since the coverage is through your husband's work, he should contact his HR manager.

I don't think we have herbs in FL...we have a lot of weeds and crabgrass as well as mangroves and nasty swamps. Never heard of herbs down here. *I found this link..maybe it will help: http://plantsflorida.blogspot.com/2009/01/seven-herbs.html

You might get more responses in alternative health, gardening, food, and I had a better one but forgot. I'll come back if I can remember.
4 :
My father did that. twice. He liked walking in the woods so he started picking up herbs and collecting them. He just collected everything once, then he put it into this great book/catalogue thing.. He added the latin name for it and other info. He filled about 50 books. He then lent it out to some student and never got it back. He was heartbroken about it for a while. then we moved away from the area. about 1000 miles. He then realized that herbs were different here so he started again and he managed to fill 25 books. He then passed away and these books are still here. I am not sure what to do with them..

I live in Florida and was wondering if I needed a private lending licence to sell construction loans in the US
I live in Florida and was wondering if I needed some sort of private lending licence to sell construction loans in the US. If I do where can I go to get one? Thanks

If you are soliciting borrowers on behalf of someone other than yourself or your employer you'll need a mortgage broker's license. (assuming you use the term "construction loan" as it is commonly understood.)

None. You pay taxes based on where you register your car (live), so it doesn't matter where you buy it.

A ar15 or ar10 would be my recommendation. The ar15 might be a lil on the small size, but you could always get a 6.5 grendel or 6.8 spc upper for it. I also live in Fl and have been controlling the population with a ar15 for a few years. I suggest getting a cheap local ar15, as it will still get the job done, and getting 6.5grendel or 6.8 spc upper down the road if you feel you want/need it. Farmers will usually let you go piggin on their land for free so long you dont screw with their property or crop. There is also no bag limit and no season on private property so go bag some hogs!!

Consider a Marlin .336 lever gun chambered in 30-30....... http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/Centerfire/336C.asp Cheap places?.... Open up the yellow pages.....

I would look at a Remington 700 in .308 or .30-06.

my 18 yr old daughter just had a fender bender. We live in florida. should we pay for the other guys bumper

my 18 yr old daughter just had a fender bender. We live in florida. should we pay for the other guys bumper?
my 18 yr old daughter just had a fender bender. We live in florida. She slightly bumped into another trucks bumper. She got a ticket, $123. should we pay for the other guys bumper with cash or does he turn it in to his insurance or our insurance? FL doesn't have the "no-fault" insurance anymore, right?

I would offer to pay cash for it but if he insists on turning it in on the insurance company its his choice really
2 :
offer to pay, but make sure you have a lawyer draw something up releasing you from all other liabilities if you do that.
3 :
If you can work it out without insurance that would be maybe the cheapest way but be sure to have something put into writing from the person you hit and signed that he is satisfied if you pay for it yourself ( so it doesn't come back and haunt you later). You can both turn it in and see but since she seems to be at fault your insurance could go up unless you fight the ticket and win. Florida does still does have the no-fault law as to my knowledge and still have to carry uninsured motorist. Best of luck with it
4 :
Florida's no-fault did not apply to property damage anyway. Personally, I'd pay for the damage out of my pocket. I'd also have the person sign a Property Damage Release (many on the Internet).
5 :
You cannot make the other guy accept your offer to pay for the damage out of pocket. If he does agree, then make sure you have him sign a Property Damage release so he does not come after you for more later. FYI: No-Fault does not cover you for the damage to your vehicle. It is related to your PIP coverage(payment of meds/wages regardless of fault). Florida̢۪s no-fault law expired on October 1, 2007, but that was short lived, and reinstated effective January 2008.
6 :
if someone damaged your car, would you wan t them to pay for the damage to your car do on to others as you would want them to do to yo

For those who live in Florida where do you go to vacation

For those who live in Florida where do you go to vacation?
Do you simply stay instate or do you travel out of state, if so where? I have always wondered because Florida is such a big vacation state that I would think locals would get bored with the same old same old beach all of the time and want to go somewhere else.

I live in Florida. I have never been to Disney or Orlando. I have been to Daytona Beach which is ok and to the Gulf. Great beaches on the Gulf along with great fishing and food. A lot nicer than the Atlantic. Some of the rivers are great places to swim (only where allowed) but you have to watch for gators and poisonous snakes. Unfortunately, I don't go on vacation anymore but if I did I would vacation in New York State like the Thousand Islands, Adironack Mts, or the Finger Lakes region.
2 :
I used to live in FL and we would go to various islands in the Caribbean or NYC.
3 :
Me and mine live in Central Florida and our whole family vacations on Anna Maria Island at the mouth of Tampa Bay. It's nice and quiet and far from the maddening crowd and cheap. In the heat of the summer we head up to western North Carolina and the coolness of the Great Smokey Mountains when we can afford it. We haven't been to Disney since EPCOT opened and try to stay away from disasters like Daytona Beach and South Florida (anything below Ft. Pierce)

Which of these cities in Florida or California would be better to live

Which of these cities in Florida or California would be better to live?
(Florida) St. Petersburg West Palm Beach or (California) Santa Monica, Los Angeles. What do you think some Pro's and Con's about either places could be? Careers, apartments, night life, crime rate ya know that sorta thing. Oh, btw, i've lived in Florida for 5 years and i know how bad it can be to find jobs but im hoping other areas might be better. And if not Cali here i come!

I went to Longboat key (Sarasota) and was wonderful......but you need a lot of money to live there baby!

Miami. If you have the money ($500,000+) you can probably buy an apartment in nicer neighborhoods, like Coral Gables or any of the islands to the left of the macarthur causeway. If your looking to pay less then $250,000 to spend lower class neighborhoods will suit you, for example, downtown, little haiti, little havana, so on. Hope this helps.
