Where are the best and worst places to live in Florida

Where are the best and worst places to live in Florida?
I need to know where the best and worst places to live in florida are, because my boyfriend and I are going to be moving there in the next month or so. We have been looking at places to live but we don't know what areas are "good", and which are "bad." So if you could give me a few pointers that would be great! Also, if you know of any places to live in the $600 range that would be even more fantastic!! Thank you!

i live in sarasota/bradenton area and love it ! and prices on rent just recently dropped so you could get a place for 600. it depends weather you want to be in a more rural or city area... and what you do for a living... i would say st. pete and tampa have higer crime then sarasota/bradenton but theres good and bad in each like most citys.... im aprox. 15 min. from the ocean (and love it !!) good luck !

Where is the best place to live in Florida or near the beach in other states

Where is the best place to live in Florida or near the beach in other states?
My boyfriend and I are thinking about relocating to Florida from the midwest. We both love the beach and are looking for something that's not terribly touristy and maybe a good place to raise a family in a few years. Low crime rate and affordable housing is also important. He would prefer to be near at least a smaller city to find work, and I would love to be able to live on the water at some point. Would love to find a place with a sense of community and not primarily retirement-based or touristy. Any perspective and info is much appreciated!

I suggest living in Orlando, Florida. I've been on several business trips over there and It is amazing it's very clean and friendly a perfect place for you and your husband and future members of the family. Orlando is also where Disneyworld is located at so that is always fun and its also not to far away from a short roadtrip to the beach. I think it is the friendliest place i have been to and the weather is just right not to windy like at the beach but not to polluted and hot. Not to mention the prices they are somewhat cheap a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom is up for 1,275 a month so its a good deal. good luck!

-Florida's water sucks! but you can save bucks! -The humid air will destroy your hair! -I drove there for 26 hours! 'N yes they sell cheap house! -Will you live near a beach? Somewhere where you can be easily reached. -Low crime rate? It will always dissipate! -You'll need to buy a pick-up truck for it will bring you luck! -Fort Lauderdale, or where there's lots of male! -Orlando, a must tourist destination to land on! -Tampa Bay, any day, be not dismay! -Kissimmee, better not miss me! -Miami, not so slammin' but lots of salami! -Key West, not so best, but you'll have a rest!

If I live and own property in Florida but receive income from Louisiana how are taxes paid

If I live and own property in Florida but receive income from Louisiana how are taxes paid?
I receive a 1099 and W2 from employers in Louisiana, but live in Florida. I pay extremely high property taxes in Florida, so I would like to know if I do not have to pay Louisiana income taxes, and if my property taxes are deductible. Please let me know your source of information as well. Thanks!

Were you present in Louisiana to do the job? If not, your income is not taxable in Louisiana. You should keep a letter from your employer that you worked from Florida and never worked in Louisiana. My answer is based on general rules. I do not know if Louisiana has any exception. Read http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/04/list-of-articles.html

Yes, you have to file a LA state tax return, and pay state income taxes on the LA income. See http://www.revenue.louisiana.gov/sections/individual/default.aspx for more info.

Where would you say the best place is to live in Florida

Where would you say the best place is to live in Florida?
Me and my fiance are thinking about moving to Florida, we want to be about a half hour inland but possibly still a big city. My grandpa lives in Port Charlotte (about 1hr south of Fort Myers) I would like to live within an hour from him, if all these requirements are possible. Any suggestions?

Georgia. I jest. Based on what you say, Orlando is your own real option. It is reasonably close to Ft. Myers, is centrally located, and it is the only major city inland. It may still be a little more than an hour from your grandpa, but not much. Anything else within a half hour inland is rural and small. All the other major cities are on the coast.

i personally loved Miami. ....the beach and architecture was beautiful.

I live in ft.myers about 5 minutes away from US 41. im inland and its somewhat of a city. i like it theres a lot of things to do. only bad thing is the traffic now that the "snowbirds" are back down. but its a pretty nice place.

Florida is a hell hole. Change your mind while you still can!

If your gay, - fort lauderdale.... If your normal , - anywhere else in the entire state.
8 :
Tampa Bay or Fort Myers. Miami is nice, as long as you have at least a basic knowledge of Spanish.

I've been to Orlando and Tampa/Sarasota region to visit. I have to tell you that Orlando sucks and Sarasota is heavenly with its weather and beaches.

Cape coral or fort myers. It is really the best time to buy a house! the real estate bubble has really burst so your options are tremendous. I have lived in both cape coral and fort myers. It really depends what you are looking for and how big your budget is. Cape coral has been nicknamed as the "bedroom ". It is the city where people go to sleep and do not much else in. Cape coral in the last year has grown alot they have a khols and a bunch of shopping markets and resturants so it is a nice place to be compared to a year or so ago. Fort Myers is goint to be harder to find a place. A wonderful place to look is off mcgregor blvd. in fort myers. The houses are all very different and the area is quieter and has a nice feel to it and it is right near the water. Naples is longer then an hour away driving during work hours and that is just not a drive you want to have to take often. Naples is also beautiful but has a very large price point. Estero dont look there. Lehigh acres ...... that is really iffy you might be able to find something good there, it's not great but it might hold a few options. The just redid Edison Mall in fort myers so it is looking alot nicer. It is a great place to live once you get adjusted and if your not used to it, it takes adjusting in a few months youll fall in love and wont want to leave. Also Port Charlotte really isnt a hour away depending on where you live in PC. Hope this helped good luck
