The worst place is Miami, followed closely by Walt Disney World. I'd never raise any of my children there. For that matter, I've heard only bad things about Jacksonville, St. Petersburg, Tallahasse, Ft. Lauderdale, and St. Augustine. The LEAST BAD part of Florida is on the west side of the state starting at the place where the state is the thinnest E-W, then up the western coast of the state toward the NW and along the southern edge of the panhandle. Not that I'd call this area "good," but isn't as rotten as central and southern Florida, either. Avoid the cities: they tend to be pestholes.

Bradenton. It's an amazing place. I grew up there and LOVED it. It's next to the beach, there's plenty of shopping centers and such, there are awesome parks and the schools are good. It's just an awesome place. It's not nearly as big as Chicago, but it's a bigger city. Check it out! http://www.cityofbradenton.com/ http://www.city-data.com/city/Bradenton-Florida.html

Orlando is great if you have a thick wallet... an amazing place if you make at least $200K. I watch the Disney fireworks every night from the pool area. We visit Mickey on the spur of the moment. My kids go to Sea World to pet the dolphins at least once a month. Great restaurants. Private schools. Ballet schools. Modeling agencies. All that stuff. Otherwise, a bit iffy. Clearwater is amazing for the beaches, but the population tends to be kinda old.
