my 18 yr old daughter just had a fender bender. We live in florida. She slightly bumped into another trucks bumper. She got a ticket, $123. should we pay for the other guys bumper with cash or does he turn it in to his insurance or our insurance? FL doesn't have the "no-fault" insurance anymore, right?

I would offer to pay cash for it but if he insists on turning it in on the insurance company its his choice really

offer to pay, but make sure you have a lawyer draw something up releasing you from all other liabilities if you do that.

If you can work it out without insurance that would be maybe the cheapest way but be sure to have something put into writing from the person you hit and signed that he is satisfied if you pay for it yourself ( so it doesn't come back and haunt you later). You can both turn it in and see but since she seems to be at fault your insurance could go up unless you fight the ticket and win. Florida does still does have the no-fault law as to my knowledge and still have to carry uninsured motorist. Best of luck with it

Florida's no-fault did not apply to property damage anyway. Personally, I'd pay for the damage out of my pocket. I'd also have the person sign a Property Damage Release (many on the Internet).

You cannot make the other guy accept your offer to pay for the damage out of pocket. If he does agree, then make sure you have him sign a Property Damage release so he does not come after you for more later. FYI: No-Fault does not cover you for the damage to your vehicle. It is related to your PIP coverage(payment of meds/wages regardless of fault). FloridaĆ¢€™s no-fault law expired on October 1, 2007, but that was short lived, and reinstated effective January 2008.
