My husband and I are looking to escape from the cold of the Mid-west. We want to raise a family in a warm place. What are the places that are the least hit by hurricanes, with a good job market? Thank you!

No offense, but I have to giggle at your question. My parents wanted to "get away from the cold" of Maryland, so we moved to a town just south of Jacksonville, and we partially regret it. It's too hot to do anything in the summer, the homes are built cheaply, the people are very fake and self-centered, it's got a huge crime rate, and has the highest abduction rate in all of America. (think Adam Walsh, Somer Thompson, Maddy Clifton, Caylee Anthony, Haleigh Cummings, Sabrina Aisenberg, etc.) I honestly can't recommend a "best place", but the Orange Park, Ponte Vedra (pronounced Ponta Vee-Druh), and St. Augustine areas are fair. Not close to the big crime and rarely gets hit with hurricanes (last one that did any damage was 5-6 years ago). Alot of people see Florida as a paradise, a fun vacation spot. But what people fail to realize is that people in Florida go to school, work, have car troubles, bake in the heat, have high electric bills (thanks to the AC), deal with bad drivers, had bad days at work, deal with kids, etc. Just be sure that moving to Florida and dealing with 117 degree summers (that's how hot it was 2 weeks ago) is really what you want to do before you dive in.

I just recently got back from a vacation, from Clearwater Beach, Fl. And the water was there clearest SALT water, I have ever seen. and wow! it was sooo hot, every time you walk outside your glasses fog up. I love hot weather, partly because I live in the Mountains on NC, don't come here, only come if you love snow!!
