Where is the safest place to live in florida

Where is the safest place to live in florida?
I am thinking of relocating eventually, don't like the cold winters in new england and liked florida a lot. Is the west coast safer than the east coast, less populated?

It is pretty populated everywhere down there. My brother lives close to Orlando. He has lost power a couple of times due to hurricanes but no major damage. If you are on the coast of course you run the risk of the full brunt. I would say the gulf side would be safer but sometimes they curl around and come right up in there.

I hear that ppl are leaving FLA cause it's getting to costly to live anymore....I guess if you want a hurricane every year anywhere is the best place to live in FLA

California. Florida is flat and full of leather skinned retirees.California is mountainous with vast ,sparsely populated stretches of beautiful coastline above San Francisco.Come here if you want to be happy.Everything north of Cal. is also geologically beautiful but more gloomy, rainy weather.I have been here for fifty years plus seen the world and know of what I speak. One really bad quake every hundred years or so is all that you need to fear if you need to fear.

Florida is losing alot of jobs due to the high prices of houses and land. Construction has definitely "went south." Its a nice place to visit but I have lived here for two years now and am moving to VA soon. If you do plan on heading this way, Gainesville and West Palm still the growing areas of FL.

Tampa area

The south - central areas are the safest as far as storms are concerned. Also warmer Winters, south of the I 4 divider. Both coasts are crowded with the Gulf my favorite. Employment is pretty good here, too.

What is the best place to live in Florida if you have small kids

What is the best place to live in Florida if you have small kids?
I am thinking about relocating from Houston to Florida. I have 2 small kids, so schools and safety are very important to me. I would like something with acreage, but not too far from the city. I am a nurse. Can someone advise me? Thanks!

yes,I live on emerald coast.I live in a little town destin, fla there are plenty of little safe cities around.Niceville, frt walton ,crestview...the beaches have white sand blue water.. http://cityofniceville.org/ heres beach cams of our area http://www.beachview.com/destin_640.htm

that will depend on what income bracket you are looking to be in. Places like port st. joe, perry, chiefland, old town have very low cost of living and home prices but incomes are low. Considering you are a nurse many of those type areas pay top dollar for the area but do not expect to make as much as center city miami.

For affordable housing I would recommend checking our Florida apartments for rent on ForRent.com http://www.forrent.com/search-apartments-by-area/FL.php The site has really great property descriptions, there are lots of photos and possible video of the property, a map to get you there and loads more! Depending on what area you're looking to live will decide how much the apartments will cost. Good luck!

cheapest = ghetto, best = not ghetto.

The property in South Florida is very high right now especially near Miami. It's depend how much you want to spend. Hollywood is a great area and very close to Miami, you might find a house in the range of $260,000 and up in a decent neighborhood. Good luck!
