so i live in florida and last week i felt an earthquake. what could it possibly be?
so i live in florida and last week i felt an earthquake. what could it possibly be? i did some investigating to see if there were any earthquakes and actually at 930pm on may 1st there was a 6.6 earthquake in alaska. me and my friend were so scared by this weird subtle shaking sensation that we recorded what time it happened and we felt it at 10pm about 30 min after the earthquake in alaska. is it possible that we felt the earthquake?

The approximate distance between Alaska and Florida is about 2,500 miles. That is an absolutely huge distance. If you felt a slight tremor at that distance, don't you think communities closer to the epicenter - especially in Canada would be simply devastated? Also, if you felt the shockwave about 30 mins after, the shockwaves would be travelling at about 5,000 mph. It is highly unlikely due to the huge population centres between you and Alaska that would feel a much stronger shockwave.

Florida does occasionally have small quakes, if you felt one at the same time as the Alaskan quake it was just coincidental timing. According to the US Geological Service no quakes have been reported in Florida recently. Its possible you felt something limited to such a small area it was not picked up by instruments or was possibly a man made event, such as underground blasting with explosives. Check the USGS page for everything about earthquakes. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/regional/ceus/earthquake/

I live in florida and want to know if it is legal to carry or keep a stun gun or hatchet in my vehicle

I live in florida and want to know if it is legal to carry or keep a stun gun or hatchet in my vehicle.?
I live in FLorida and want to buy a Hatchet or Stun Gun, just to have in my car for protection. I also want to know if it is legal to carry the stun gun on my person. I am 18 and live in Putnam County Florida, if that helps. If not what do you recommend i carry, besides pepper spray?

google - florida penal code

A hatchet wouldn't be much good, how would you swing it in a car? Check with a local gun shop, they will know what is legal.
3 :
You cant carry a hatchet...a stun gun,you need to get a permit for it. And you cant use it unless if you have solid proof that the person has tryed to harm you. If you dont have proof, you will get arrested. Pepper Spray is the only thing you can carry without getting in trouble for using or needing some sort of permit. Try an airsoft pistol,or a BB

Sure. My boyfriend does.
5 :
im pretty sure if you got pulled up by police you would be arrested for the hatchet In Florida, N.F.A (gun trust). weapons are legal to own and possess as long as you aren't a criminal, insane, and you obey the laws. Machine guns are legal, here, as long as they were manufactured and registered with the B.A.T.F.E. prior to 1986. Silencers are legal here as long as they are registered and you pay for the tax stamp (USD $200.00). You can own a grenade launcher here.

Well i don't think it would matter either way if you need protection outside your car you wouldn't get to it on time and if you could you would probably want to avoid it by driving away. if you need protection in your car well why? unless someone jumps in your window then you could probably use pepper spray and or a stun gun but you would probably in shock. You might like a bat as well a hatchet is just like a knife.... a bat would be easier to use cause a hatchet is only good for one specific side u can use all sides of a bat...

Okay Lizzie Borden. What gives?

Do i need a heater for my tropical fish tank if i Live in South Florida

Do i need a heater for my tropical fish tank if i Live in South Florida?
I live in florida and i'm planning to get 3 panda corys and 3 otos for my 10 gallon tank. it's always pretty warm here and my house is always warm b/c of A/C or Heating. Do i really need to get a heater for my fish tank?

I would say you're fine. Just have a thermometer on your tank to watch the temperature yourself. If it fluctuates too much, especially at night, you should invest in a small heater.
2 :
you could risk not getting one, but if it reaches cold, then there's really no way to heat the tank without heating your home.
3 :
Make sure you moniter the temp. but I don't think you need a heater. I live in CO and my fish are good all year.. although this summer I had to fill the tank with ice (in bottles) to cool it down some. Just keep the temp constant and you'll be fine.
4 :
its recommended but if i was you i prob wouldnt get one.... but just to be safe get one... a 10 gallon filter isnt too expansive.. get a cheap one cause of your weather.
5 :
Honestly, you need a heater no matter where you live. It's not really the temperature that bothers the fish, but the changes in temperature. The temperature in your home between daytime and night time will change quite a bit, especially with Winter coming up. It's best if you have a heater to keep the temperature stable.

Which is the best place to live in Florida and why?
I am considering moving to Florida, I really want to live somewhere warm. I have spent time in the Tampa bay area and enjoyed it. I am also intrigued by the keys. Where would you recommend living and why?

I live in florida and i would know from experience For one do not live in Ft. Myers or cape coral unless you like lots of old people and high crime rates. But the places i really like to visit in florida that you should move to is Ft. Lauder dale there have lots of young people and the lovely beaches. Or the Keys is a good choice i like Marathon key out of all of them they have lots of exciting life there and good beaches and there close to duval st. which is a big places in the keys. Or Pensacola is one of my favorites too they have very clean, white sand, blue ocean beaches. There sand squeaks because its so clean. Also Orlando is close to alot of amusement parks like bush gardens and disney and orlando studios. and yupp hope thats helps those are my opinons(:
2 :
i would say Titusvile if your looking for a small town to live in it isn't huge but it's nice it has a little park by the ocean so you can go fishing there and at times you can see a space shuttle lift off from Nasa it's pretty cool also it's just about 30-45 minutes from Orlando so if you want to go to any theme parks it's pretty close and there's a huge beach it has more than 10 parts to it so it isn't overcrowded it's a pretty quiet town i say i go there every summer sense about 4 year's ago so i think it's nice
3 :
if you are young i would say Miami or Ft Lauderdale. other nice places are Orlando, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Key West, Daytona, etc.
